Black Belt - Only the Beginning
Recently some tkd students i teach quit after right after receiving their black belt as I could have guessed they would.  Unfortunately this scenario is nothing new. This is my response:
If anyone quits martial arts right after testing for their black belt, they have fully negated everything they “achieved.” Being a black belt is not a moment in time, but rather a way of life.   It is not a memory of a test, but rather a living spirit carried with you throughout your life that guides your thoughts and actions.  A 1st degree black belt is not the end of the road, but rather it is the key to the sky.  The journey towards self-idealization and understanding through introspection and training has only just begun.

Awesome video from the Fight Science series on NatGeo measuring and comparing the amount of force generated by kicks from major martial arts.  TKD wins!! Obviously not a definitive study with so many variables but very interesting nonetheless =)
